Derbyshire Region - November 2019

November update from Derbyshire Region

The November meeting at The Robin Hood was quieter than normal so we met in the bar rather than the usual room. Some of us had been to the Classic Motor Show at the NEC the previous weekend, and the general consensus was that it was a good show and that the JEC stand was busy and interesting (if possibly a little undermanned?). The cars on the JEC stand were fantastic, and there were plenty of Jaguars dotted around the other stands.

Your correspondent visited Caffine and Machine on Sunday 10th and managed to get parked up outside the front of the pub (unfortunately I was in the 'other' red car, but I've included a picture below anyway!). It was reasonably busy - 4 McLaren's there - soo common some cars!

H & H Auctions had their final classic car auction at Buxton for this year and a few of us went along. Less than 60% of vehicles sold, many for below estimate and some of those only after consultation with the seller. Having said that, the quality of the vehicles wasn't the best we've seen there recently. How about £750 for a '96 XK8 or £5625 for a one owner 2006 XK with 97,000 on the clock? Fortunately, Geoff was feeling a bit under the weather so was unable to come and bid on the Bentley Turbo R that didn't reach reserve at £14k. Never mind Geoff, the JEC still loves you!
