We had a couple of events this month, firstly our monthly meeting at the Robin Hood in Baslow which was our “Bonnets Up” (annual car show) and the two worthy winners were Barrie Birkin for his lovely early S type taking the Hatfield Cup and then Peter Coles for his 2008 XKR Coupe taking the Don Holland Cup. Congratulation to both and also to thanks to all who took part on the night.
Our second event was “Classics at Dovedale” where we had 26 cars and 46 people spend an enjoyable afternoon at Dovedale Garage, Thorpe, with all money raised going to Weston Park Cancer Centre. The result was a cheque for £495 sent the following week and a big thanks to all involved in making it a great afternoon. We enjoyed good weather and entertainment provided by Christian Cartwright, the resident organist at Pipes in the Peaks. We will in fact be back at Dovedale in June for their Summer BBQ, an event not to be missed!
By the time you read this we will have had our June meeting and the next major event will be the show at Newby Hall on the 14th August. There are a few of us going and overnighting at Nidd Hall for 2/3 days so let’s hope for good weather. On Sunday 21st August we will be organising Sunday Lunch at Biggin Hall and more details will follow in due course.
We have had a few new members join the Derbyshire Group over the last couple of months and we would firstly like to welcome you, and secondly hope to see some of you at some of our meetings in the coming months.
