Derbyshire Region - July Report

This is Roger's Report for July

Unfortunately, I have to start this month’s report with some further sad news with the passing away of Hilary Phillips on the 20th July. Ray and Hilary have been loyal supporter of the Group and hosted a number of events at Gulliver’s Kingdom in Matlock over the years, and we send our condolences to Ray and the family. Many of the Derbyshire Region attended the funeral and Ray has said he will continue to come to our meetings, and we all look forward to seeing him again. The Region has also made a donation to Ashgate Hospice in memory of Hilary.

Our July meeting was well attended with over 40 meeting at the Robin Hood on a lovely summers evening, and we welcomed new members Richard and Kelly Tatz to our group and hope to see them again during the summer months. I say this as they spend 6 months of their lives here and 6 months in Hawaii, as they are both American citizens. They travelled extensively in the UK before finally settling in Derbyshire and have embraced the life here to the full.

July also saw the Derby Classic car and Retro show, attended by a few of our members and also the North Staffs region. We had little advanced information about this event so we hope that next year they can be better organised.

By the time you read this the Summer Festival will have taken place and a number of us are staying for the weekend and a few going for the day.

We have the clubs' Blackpool Event in September and then in October a few from the Region are going to the Lake District for a short break. We also hope to organise a lunch at Carsington Water later in October and more details will follow once we have spoken to Carsington.

Note that the August Meeting at The Robin Hood on Tuesday 9th August will be 'Bring your other Car'. Several members have another interesting car in their 'fleet'. Or just come along in your Jaguar!
