We had an excellent turn out for our first meeting of the year with 37 of us returning to the Robin Hood in Baslow after it’s refurbishment last year. The new owners have made big improvements to the place and we were looked after very well by all concerned and look forward to the year ahead back at our “old venue”.
There is little new to report at the moment, with most of the year ahead now planned out and we are just waiting for final confirmation from Inchcape Derby for our planned visit on Saturday 26th March and once this comes through I will email everyone, as they need a list of names before the event. We also understand the Jaguar Breakfast meeting planned for Saturday 7th May at Gaydon has now been moved to Brooklands, which whilst being an interesting venue is a long way for us to drive, so not sure how this will be supported from our Region.
I also understand from Andy Webber they are organising a visit to CMC Ltd in Bridgenorth on Saturday 23rd April. This should be really interesting and I am waiting for more information as to numbers etc, and again will keep everyone informed once this is available.
On Saturday 12th June there is a Car Show and Open Gardens at Gringley on the Hill near Gainsborough and I believe this is an excellent event and day out so you might want to put this in your diaries. I used to travel over there many years ago and it is a lovely village so might be worth a visit.
I have been advised the Derby Classic Car and Retro Show will be on Sunday 3rd July at Markeaton Park and we will discuss our participation at the next meeting.
