Our ‘Bonnets Up’ event was the centrepiece of our May meeting at our new venue – The Highwayman on the Baslow to Chesterfield road. There was a good turnout of 41 members and 25 cars representing 14 different models, Including (but not limited to): a spectacular 1955 Mk7 from Sheffield based Paul (following a 10 year restoration), six E-Types including Geoff’s newly acquired Series 3, and the winner of the pre 79 category which is owned by Dawn and Mark. an XJS-C, an XK8 (a previous winner) an XJ6 and an XJ8, an S Type, an XK150 and a fully original untouched Mk2.
Winner of the Post 79 Don Holland Cup was Maurice’s F Type cabriolet which had been polished within an inch of it’s life.
Regarding the new venue, the food was good, service in most cases was very efficient, and everyone preferred the spacious car park. There was a bit of a queue at the peak ordering time, around 6:45-7PM, but this was understandable.
