City Airport Fire Station visit

We were greeted by Louise the duty manager, who made us feel very welcome. After the necessary security checks were completed, we made our way across the apron to the impressive headquarters of the fire service.

Rory Goldring and his team showed us the various specialist fire tenders and explained about the particular methods and materials they would employ to extinguish a fire onboard a plane.

They then gave us a dramatic demonstration of the power of the onboard water cannons just as the sun was setting over the Belfast hills.

Afterwards we were able to enjoy a relaxing coffee in the arrivals lounge. Many thanks to all the staff at the airport who were unfailingly helpful and made everyone’s evening most enjoyable.
