News from the AGM and the new Essex & Suffolk Borders Committee

News and events update

Our AGM was held in February, and a new committee of six voted in. We were very sorry to see Bob Welton, Helen Price, Peter Pearson and Anne Pearson step down after so many years, having built up the Region to the very successful club in force today. As Chairman, Bob is very well known in JEC circles and our grateful thanks go to all four for their service to the club. They also pointed out they are not going anywhere, and will remain keen and active members.

At the first new committee meeting, Geoff Short was elected chairman, with Bob Weaver as vice chairman and Clive Gowers Treasurer. Martin Porter and Tony Agombar will assist with events and speakers and Karen Porter will be the branch secretary.

A very good lunch was held at the Harbour Lights restaurant, Walton, in early February, although snowy conditions on the day meant most Jaguars were tucked up at home! By the time this is published we will have had our March committee meeting and we are busy looking into new show venues.

Investigations revolve round a trip to Snape Maltings on Drive It Day ( 23 Apr), Felixstowe Craft Fair (21 May), were there are always over 100 Classics Cars on show and a 100 stalls and Ludham Open Gardens (25 Jun) where there will be boat transfers across the river!

A new list will be published shortly, with these new events alongside the old favourites.

The new committee is very keen to keep the Region running well and welcome your input. It is your club and we know members will choose the events they wish to attend – hopefully we will have something for all.

Let’s hope we get a good summer!
