Once again it was time for Fife and Tayside`s annual get together Christmas dinner 2019 albeit slightly later in January. On a beautiful sunny but rather cold day everybody headed to The Royal George hotel in Perth from different areas of Scotland. Queen Victoria made The Royal George Hotel her place of residence when she visited Perth in 1848. She was so impressed with its hospitality that The George Inn was renamed The Royal George Hotel in her honour, and both the Royal Warrant and two lamps, fashioned from the bed the monarch slept in, are still in the hotel today.
Meeting up for pre-dinner drinks at 7pm, David our new chairman greeted everyone and offered our customary drink at the clubs expensive to all members and guests. Dinner was served prompt at 7.30 followed with coffee and shortbread and once again food and service was excellent.
A very informative talk was given by Colin McAllister, from Pentland Jaguar and Landrover, about the future of the marques concentrating especially on electric vehicles, their development of new battery technology, new type charging facility and battery usage after their life in cars. He had with him a new "I-pace" which by all accounts is very capable and an exciting prospect for the future.
Mike McCormick then gave us a short talk about what is happening in his life and in particular his involvement in the JDC.
Then during a short break to restock our drinks raffle tickets were sold for an excellent selection of prizes and gifts donated by guests, members and sponsors.
A most enjoyable evening was had by all and most people left for home those who were staying at the hotel that evening assembled around the fire for a chat and a final night cap.
