40th Anniversary JEC
Anlässlich des 40jährigen Jubiläums des JEC machten sich drei deutsche Teams zusammen auf den Weg in Richtung Coventry. Mit 2 XK 8 Cabrio und einem XF trafen wir uns in Dünkirchen am 25.07.24. Nach einer Übernachtung ging es dann gemeinsam am 26.07.24 auf die erste Fähre nach Dover. Angekommen auf der schönen Insel, bei sehr gutem Wetter, kämpften wir uns durch wahre Mengen von Staus (es war auch hier Ferienbeginn), bis wir endlich das Hotel Chesford Grange erreichten. Das Wochenende startete abends mit einem BBQ. Weiter ging es am Samstag mit der Möglichkeit die Gegend zu erkunden - natürlich sind wir auch am Wohnsitz von Sir William Lyons gewesen. Abends fand dann ein Gala Dinner statt. Am nächsten Tag verbrachten alle zusammen den Tag am British Motor Museum / Heritage Center. So weit das Auge reichte sah man Jaguare aus allen Zeiten. Ein wunderschönes Bild. Am Abend war dann noch ein Buffet Dinner mit der anschließenden Möglichkeit eines Autokinobesuches eingeplant. An diesem Wochenende haben wir sehr viele schöne Autos bewundern dürfen, dabei auch noch viele nette Menschen getroffen. Unser gesamtes Team ist sich einig - das wird wiederholt werden müssen. Three teams from Germany decided to meet up together to travel the long way to Coventry to attend the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Jaguar Enthusiasts club. 2 XK 8 and 1 XF arrived in Dunkirk on July the 25th. After spending the night there, everyone took the first ferry to Dover. The group enjoyed their arrival on the beautiful island with great weather which helped them brave copious amounts of traffic jams (as it was the time for summer vacation), until they arrived at the hotel Chesford Grange. The weekend started with a BBQ. It continued Saturday morning with the opportunity to explore the region, of course taking the opportunity to visit the manor of Sir William Lyons. This was followed by a gala dinner in the evening. On the next day, everyone spent the day together on the British Motor Museum / Heritage Center in Gaydon. Jaguars from all time periods were on display as far as the eye could see, a truly beautiful sight to behold. The day came to an end with a buffet dinner and a visit to a drive-in cinema. Throughout the weekend we were able to see many different beautiful cars and meet nice people. Our entire team agreed in unison that we should repeat this.
