This year's Rickinghall Show will be the fifth event we have organised at this venue. Last year the event went very well, with a dry but cloudy day setting up on the Saturday and sunshine and blue sky throughout Sunday. Public numbers were down to 650 instead of 1000 last year and the catering trucks said the visitors might have gone to the beach instead. Perhaps the weather was too good! Bob Welton did the judging with the trophy for first place going to a 1975 Escort Mexico, looking newer than when it left Ford and the runners up were a 1966 Gordon Keeble - only 99 were made - and a Lotus Europa. We had some excellent vehicles on display, which is quite an achievement for a village Show. It was interesting to see the size of the huge John Deere tractor against the 1950 equivalents and also the Scammel recovery lorry now did not look much bigger than a modern Luton van.

We still managed to raise over £1800, with expenses being covered by the stalls in the hall and on the field, catering wagons and a sponsor. Several people came up to say how much they had enjoyed it and the postman today said that a few on his round had chatted to him about it. The traders and car clubs all want to do it again here we are again in 2025. With all the marshalls now in possession of new red JEC Rickinghall Car Show hats, it would be rude not to! Ssee you there!!
