Jaguar has pulled the plug on the E Type Zero

Jaguar has announced that it will not go ahead in the near future, with plans to build the E Type Zero.

The Jaguar E Type Zero, was Jaguar’s all-electric version of the E-Type that was to make use of I-PACE components and be sold either as a complete vehicle or converted using owners’ existing cars.

It was billed, quite rightly at the time, as the world's most beautiful Electric Vehicle and we certainly couldn't have disagreed.

Sadly though, earlier this week, Jaguar Land Rover Classic contacted all those who expressed an interest in purchasing an E Type Zero to say that although production has been halted, it may re-appear in the future.

The letter from Paul Hegarty at Jaguar Land Rover Classic says, “I am contacting you as you were one of the first to express interest in the all-electric Jaguar E-type Zero. It is with regret that I inform you that we have taken a difficult decision to pause the development of the production vehicle for the time being.” Hegarty explains.

While we look forward to bringing this innovative vehicle and technology to our customers in the future, for now we are focusing our resources on the next generation of world-class Classic products and services.”

The new comes amidst growing uncertainty in the automotive markets as well as a statement by FIVA that we reported on recently, confirming their position on classic cars that had been converted to EVs.
