Drive it Day 2018

Drive it Day 2018 is celebrated across the UK and our members love nothing better than an excuse to get out there and drive their cats. This year was no different and many of our members got involved whether it was individually, on a tour or as part of a region and sent us their photos for you all to enjoy.

What is Drive it Day? Promoted by the FBHVC as an incentive to get classic cars out on the road Drive it Day always takes place as close to the original "1000 mile trial" which first took place on 23rd April 1900! This trial was originally organised by the "Automobile Club" and went through Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Derby, Kendal, Carlisle, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Leeds, Sheffield, Nottingham and back to London. For more details on what started Drive it Day you read the FBHVC page here and more information on the original 1000 mile trial here.

But for now, enjoy the images our members and regions sent in from across UK and Europe.

Essex Thameside Region

We started the day at the services off Junction 28 on A12, where 32 members joined us on a tour of Suffolk, first to Suffolk Sports Cars, where owner Roger Williams agreed to open up the factory special for our visit. From there we travelled on some back roads of Suffolk to Bury St. Edmunds and the Greene King Brewery for a tour, which incorporated a very nice tasting of their beers on such a very hot day (all small tasters of course). Finally, we headed off to Stowmarket to a very nice country pub - The Shepherd & Dog - for lunch/dinner.  The weather was wonderful all day which made the day a terrific  success. Thank you Drive it Day 2018!
