Steed's Avengers XJ-C sells for staggering amount.
John Steed's famous mount was recently unearthed lounging away in a barn, thought lost for many years, there was a sense of excitment as this car, even in "poor" condition was offered up to auction, through H&H Auctions, at the Imperial War Museum Duxford on October 14th 2015.
With a pre auction estimate of between £10,000 and £12,000, most experts thought that would be easily reached, but even with XJ-C's and Jaguars experiencing a bit of a renaissance in values recently every one was surprised at the result.
The hammer finally falling on £62,000 + fees (so expect the buyer to pay over £70,000).
So what now for this new found hero of the Jaguar brand and its new owner? We hope to find out soon and see this car back in its original state.
