Times can sometimes be tough after a life in the armed services, whether you are a Veteran, a Dependent of a Veteran or other Beneficiary.
‘Veterans’ is a great day out – riding Jaguars around a Test Track, chatting to mates old and new and enjoying the best of weather, whilst also getting support and advice, is an excellent idea.
JEC Oxfordshire was very pleased to be invited to provide the vehicles for this event.
The Test Track at Bicester Heritage is not that big but you can still do 75 mph down the back straight 5 up in an XF (if you are careful). ‘Pops and bangs and crackles’ aplenty can also be generated – sufficient to bring a smile to any and every face !!
Those present ranged from 8 years of age to ‘100+’ (Ladies never state their exact age after all) and were able to choose from no less than an SS100 replica, 8 XKs/XKRs, 2 Mark IIs, 3 E-Types, 4 F-Types, 3 XFs, an XJS, an XJ-SC, a Caterham 7 and more.
The savvy beneficiaries made sure that they tried them all and many went away with baseball caps, (as worn by Lewis Hamilton even if not signed by him) very kindly donated to one of our Region members by Pirelli.
We will apparently be invited back in April next year too, so that more members can have the chance to contribute to our Veterans’ futures in the most pleasant of ways imaginable.
