A new addition to the roadside safety market is aiming to rethink one of motoring’s oldest – and riskiest – essentials. The ‘Be Seen Screen’ is a reflective breakdown warning banner designed to replace the traditional warning triangle with a quicker, safer solution.
Instead of placing a triangle on the road – often requiring drivers to walk into live traffic – the Be Seen Screen fixes directly to the rear of the vehicle using suction pads. It can be deployed in around 30 seconds and immediately creates a large, highly visible warning surface for approaching drivers
The screen uses micro-prismatic reflective material and a bold red-and-yellow chevron design to maximise visibility. According to the manufacturer, it can be seen from up to 500 metres away in both daylight and darkness, reflecting headlights back towards oncoming traffic.
Durability has also been a focus. The unit has been tested at the Millbrook Proving Ground, withstanding strong winds and maintaining its position when mounted to a vehicle, while the reinforced backing is designed for all-weather use.
The concept addresses growing concerns around the safety of warning triangles, particularly on high-speed roads where placing them can be dangerous. The Be Seen Screen instead keeps the driver out of harm’s way while still delivering a clear visual warning to other road users.
Compact enough to store in the boot and suitable for cars, vans and larger vehicles, it’s a simple idea – but one that could make a meaningful difference when it matters most.
