Concours d’Elegance – The best Jaguars at Pebble Beach

As the most elegant cars on the planet, it’s no surprise that Jaguars are king of the concours. We will be holding our own concours at Wroxall Abbey on July 1st, featuring some of the finest Jaguars from within the club, England’s Pebble Beach for the weekend, if you like!

To get you in the mood for the Concours d’Wroxall we take a look at some of the most surprising moments from the Quail and Concours d’Elegance at Pebble Beach of recent years.

Who can forget last year’s XK120 by Pininfarina? The stunning one-off Jag took 6,725 man-hours to complete and wowed the crowds and judges at the 2017 Concours. We got up close and personal with this winning Jaguar at the London Classic Car Show – read more HERE.

An XK120 also stole the show in 2012 where the ‘Gable Grey’ 120 owned by none other than Clark Gable won Best in Class in the Postwar Sports Open category. Now in the possession of Jeff Lotman this car was painstakingly restored having been dismantled by a previous Texan owner and stored in boxes. This car was not only verified as one of Gable’s cars, but also reviewed by the man himself. The March 1950 issue of Road and Track featured a column by Gable where he told the story of trying to reach the car’s 135mph top speed on a dry riverbed – but only achieving a paltry 124mph! Arguably the finest moment for the historians among us, came in 2010 when 12 of the original 16 Jaguar XK-SS’ were assembled to commemorate 75 years of Jaguar. One XK-SS is special enough, however to have three-quarters of the world’s population in one place is mind blowing. The cars were lined up by the coastal golf course for the most scenic pictures possible, and Autoblog were there to capture the iconic moment. Their pictures are astounding, check them out HERE.

For fans of the older Jag, 2014 saw an SS100 Roadster take home a ribbon. And in 2015 the mighty SS Coupé bodied by Graber won as well. While they are among some of the eldest Jaguars to appear at Pebble, they do show how strong Jaguar’s presence can be at a concours. Take 2011 for example where Jaguar showed off the concept car of the day – the CX-75 as well as their entire 2012 Model Year Range and debuting a beautiful Red XKR-S.

While we can’t promise a display of the calibre of Pebble Beach but we can confirm some fairly special Jaguars that will arrive at the concours, more on those soon…

We have a number of highly-qualified experts who can inspect your vehicle prior to purchase and provide you with a full written report. In addition to their complete understanding of the mechanical and aesthetic aspects of vehicle inspection, they have extensive experience with the Jaguar marque which perfectly equips them to identify the unique requirements of specific models and years, something that is particularly important for older cars.

The cost of an inspection begins at £100, with the final figure determined by the time needed and the distance the inspector is required to travel. We can guarantee that your inspection will be cheaper than an equivalent AA or RAC inspection.

This small upfront outlay could save you thousands in the long term.

To arrange an inspection simply call JEC Head Office on 0117 969 8186 and they will provide you with details of your nearest inspector.

Also from our club HQ in Bristol we can give you an official valuation for insurance purposes. Our valuations are accepted by all leading insurance brokers and Companies.

GETTING STARTED

Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club Insurance is designed specifically for members of the JEC. That’s why it covers JEC TrackSport events and offers cover for JEC Young Enthusiasts. Furthermore, the scheme recognises that members may have a combination of newer and more historic Jaguars and so the scheme caters for all, other individually or part of a multi-vehicle offering.

Club insurance doesn’t operate the way standard insurance does. While it does still take a vehicle’s mechanical characteristics into account, it also places a lot of emphasis on how the vehicle is used, cared for and maintained.

Club insurance also offers a host of benefits and products that you simply cannot get outside of membership of the JEC, such as member to member cover for example. This enables you to drive your friends Jaguars at regional meets, events and on tours with fully comprehensive cover and without the need to complete more paperwork or ring up and incur costs for adding named drivers.

This way, you’ll be comfortable knowing that you have a policy that fits your vehicle and your usage needs perfectly.
