The XF heralded in an entirely new styling ethos for Jaguar, led by their Styling Director Ian Callum. This mid-range model replaced both the X-type and S-type saloons.
Working with the basic mechanical ‘structure’ of the outgoing S-type, the XF was introduced with the option of the 3.0 litre V6 petrol, 4.2 litre V8, or the 4.2 litre supercharged engine and the 2.7 litre V6 diesel unit, mated to 6-speed transmission with steering wheel mounted paddle controls..
The biggest news was the all new styling (still in steel at this time) with strong emphasis on the frontal grille and horizontal light units and coupe style four-door bodywork. Internally the car was also all new with a much more contemporary approach to everything including the mix of wood veneer with modern alloy finishes.
In 2009 the 2.7 litre and 4.2 litre engines were replaced by the Gen III 3.0 litre diesel and 5.0 litre petrol units, the latter also available in supercharged form.
The saloons were joined in 2013 by the Sportbrake (estate car) derivative picking up on the superb coupe style of roof panel and with the latest fitments expected of luxury luggage/sports carriers. The range was also expanded to include a 2.2 litre diesel engine and in 2014 an XFR-S ultimate performance 5.0 litre was announced. Styling changes took place throughout the life of the model until 2015 when the XF range was completely changed.

Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club Insurance is designed specifically for members of the JEC. That’s why it covers JEC TrackSport events and offers cover for JEC Young Enthusiasts.
