Postwar,
with Jaguar working on an entirely new luxury saloon, in the interim they
needed a new model to maintain sales and capture new markets. This car was the
Mark V, available as both a four-door saloon and a two-door drop head coupe.
Using a new Jaguar designed chassis with independent front suspension, with the
existing pushrod 6-cylinder engines (now actually produced in-house), the
sculptured body was styled like the prewar cars but with flowing wings, flared
in headlights and a better standard of trim - the car that was used to launch
that famous Jaguar slogan - Grace…Space…and Pace. Announced in 1948 these cars
stayed in production until 1950.
