End of an Era: Mitch Evans to Leave Jaguar TCS Racing After Ten Remarkable Seasons

One of the most successful partnerships in modern Jaguar motorsport is set to come to an end, with Jaguar TCS Racing confirming that Mitch Evans will leave the team at the conclusion of the 2025/26 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship season.

The announcement brings the curtain down on a relationship that began when both Jaguar and Evans entered Formula E together in 2016. Over the past decade, the New Zealander has become synonymous with Jaguar’s electric racing programme, helping transform the British manufacturer from a newcomer in the championship into a title-winning force.

Evans leaves with a place firmly secured in Jaguar racing history. During his ten seasons with the team, he has amassed 15 Formula E victories, making him the championship’s most successful race winner to date. Along the way he has added 21 podium finishes, 10 pole positions and nine fastest laps, while twice finishing runner-up in the Drivers’ World Championship.

Perhaps his greatest achievement came in 2024 when he played a central role in delivering Jaguar TCS Racing’s first Formula E Teams’ World Championship. It was a landmark success for the marque and Jaguar’s first world championship triumph as a manufacturer since the Group C sports car era of the early 1990s.

Jaguar TCS Racing Team Principal Ian James paid tribute to the driver who has been at the heart of the programme since its inception.

“The partnership between Jaguar TCS Racing and Mitch has been synonymous with the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship,” said James. He added that Evans had cemented his place in Jaguar’s motorsport history through his achievements over the last decade.

Importantly, both parties have stressed that the decision was reached mutually, with Evans remaining fully committed to Jaguar’s championship campaigns for the remainder of the season. At the time of the announcement, the Kiwi was still firmly in contention in the Drivers’, Teams’ and Manufacturers’ title battles.

For Evans, the move represents the end of a defining chapter in his career.

“To have been with Jaguar TCS Racing right from the beginning and achieved so much success throughout the last ten years in Formula E has been incredible,” he said, describing the partnership as a memorable journey filled with highlights. Evans explained that he felt the time was right to pursue a new challenge from next season onwards. His departure will inevitably spark speculation over where one of Formula E’s most accomplished drivers will race next, while Jaguar faces the equally significant task of replacing a driver who has become the face of its Formula E programme.

Whatever happens next, Evans’ legacy is secure. From Jaguar’s difficult early seasons to race victories, championship battles and ultimately world title success, he has been there every step of the way. As the team prepares for a future without him, Jaguar enthusiasts can look back on a decade that delivered some of the most memorable moments in the marque’s recent motorsport history.

With several races still remaining in the current campaign, there is one final objective for both driver and team: ending their extraordinary ten-year partnership with another world championship trophy.

The cost of an inspection begins at £100, with the final figure determined by the time needed and the distance the inspector is required to travel. We can guarantee that your inspection will be cheaper than an equivalent AA or RAC inspection.

GETTING STARTED

Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club Insurance is designed specifically for members of the JEC. That’s why it covers JEC TrackSport events and offers cover for JEC Young Enthusiasts. Furthermore, the scheme recognises that members may have a combination of newer and more historic Jaguars and so the scheme caters for all, other individually or part of a multi-vehicle offering.

Club insurance doesn’t operate the way standard insurance does. While it does still take a vehicle’s mechanical characteristics into account, it also places a lot of emphasis on how the vehicle is used, cared for and maintained.

Club insurance also offers a host of benefits and products that you simply cannot get outside of membership of the JEC, such as member to member cover for example. This enables you to drive your friends Jaguars at regional meets, events and on tours with fully comprehensive cover and without the need to complete more paperwork or ring up and incur costs for adding named drivers.

This way, you’ll be comfortable knowing that you have a policy that fits your vehicle and your usage needs perfectly.
