Three much-loved cars from the collection of a lifelong Jaguar enthusiast are being offered at auction with no reserve – and his family would dearly love to see them remain within the Jaguar community.
We were contacted this week by Kristian following the sad loss of his father, a lifelong Jaguar enthusiast whose passion for the marque was quite extraordinary.
Over the years, Kristian estimates that his father owned more than 100 Jaguars, encompassing just about every model at one time or another. During the 1990s, his enthusiasm reached its peak when he owned more than 50 Jaguars simultaneously!
He loved the hunt for the right car, travelling the length and breadth of the country in search of particularly good examples. As the years went by, however, that enormous collection was gradually reduced until just ten favourites remained – the cars he simply couldn’t bring himself to part with.
Following his death, the family has faced the difficult task of finding new homes for those treasured cars. The more modern Jaguars, including XJ-Ss, XK8s and XKs, have already been sold, leaving three particularly special survivors.
These are also among the cars he owned for the longest, having bought them during the 1980s and early 1990s:
1958 Jaguar Mk1 3.4-litre MOD
One of the earliest cars remaining from the collection, combining the compact original Jaguar saloon body with the wonderful 3.4-litre XK engine and manual gearbox with overdrive.
1968 Daimler V8 250 Automatic
Jaguar’s compact saloon clothed around Daimler’s celebrated 2.5-litre V8 – and another car which remained part of the collection for decades.
1975 Jaguar XJ-C 4.2
Perhaps one of the most distinctive Jaguars of the 1970s, the pillarless two-door XJ Coupé has become an increasingly sought-after part of Jaguar history.

Because these cars are rarer and more difficult to value than the modern Jaguars in the collection, the family decided that auction offered the fairest way of finding their market value.
Importantly, all three are being offered with NO RESERVE.
That means there is every possibility that somebody could acquire a very interesting Jaguar – or Daimler – at an equally interesting price.
But for Kristian and his family, there is something rather more important than simply achieving a sale.
They would dearly love these cars, which meant so much to their father and formed part of his life for so many years, to pass into the hands of fellow enthusiasts who will appreciate, preserve and enjoy them.
The auctions are open for pre-bidding now, with the seven-day auctions commencing Friday 4 September and concluding on 12 September.
