Every year the Jaguar Enthusiasts ‘ Club raffles a car and donates the proceeds to a charity of the Chairman’s choice. 2018 the car was an F-Type and the charity was The Macular Society.

Raffle a car every year?

The Club for over 30 years has supported charity by offering a Jaguar as a prize for one lucky winner. Selling raffle tickets throughout the year before selecting the winning ticket on the Sunday of the NEC Classic Motor Show, NEC, Birmingham. The Club is rightly very proud of its achievements over the years raising approximately half a million pounds so far.

The support does not end there, our regions are also great fund raisers for charities in their local area too. To find out about your local region you can visit the regions here.

Who are The Macular Society?

On their website they introduce themselves as “Macular disease is the biggest cause of sight loss in the UK, with 300 people diagnosed every day. It steals your sight, your confidence, and your ability to do the things you love. There is only one way to Beat Macular Disease for good. We must fund much more research now, until we find a cure, or find treatments that stop it in its tracks.”

To find out more about the society and the disease then please visit their website www.macularsociety.org.

It has been a fantastic year working with them and their help was invaluable at the NEC draw weekend when they attended with many volunteers to help sell tickets in what was a record weekend of sales for the Club at the event.

From everyone at the JEC, thank you for your help.

What was the car in 2018?

In 2018 we pulled the stops out and went big. Well, small as we put the latest sports car from the Jaguar stable up for grabs. A 3.0 ltr F-Type convertible. This is a car that speaks for itself, what more would you want from a company that has won Le Mans 7 times?

Who won the car?

November 11th 2018, 4pm, NEC Birmingham, Classic Motor Show and Fuzz Townsend accompanied by Phillip Bell draw the winning ticket. Number 14149.

The lucky winner Bob Barrett, came up to the Club’s head quarters in Bristol to collect the car and was still quite unbelieving it was real. Our Assistant General Manager James Blackwell handed over the keys and it wasn’t long before the lucky new owner set off for his trip back home.

Cheque handover to the Macular Society

Wednesday 19th December Graham Searle and James Blackwell visited the Macular Society Head Quarters in Andover to meet some of the team and find out about the work they do and what we will be supporting. On arrival we were introduced to members of the fund raising team Susie McCallum Community & Events Fundraising Manager, Emma Malcolm, Macular Society director of fundraising and marketing, Amanda Read, Macular Society regional manager. Darcy is Amanda’s Guide Dog and Andrew Gray Media and PR Officer.

The cheque we handed over was for an astonishing £25,000! The team went on to explain that this would pay for their counselling service for 3 months or 1600 phone calls to the help line. Two hugely important services provided by the charity, these two services are the front line of the charity as people first understand the impact the disease will have on their lives.

What do we have in store for 2019?

Well it is going to be exciting, the thing about having an F-Type for a charity car is it becomes more difficult to top! We already know our charity it is the Invictus Games Racing. We have an exciting year planned with activities and opportunities for you to attend and enjoy, but we will tell you more about those when we can, so keep your eyes peeled.

Thank you everyone for your continued support of the Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club and our chosen charities.

Agreed values

We have a number of highly-qualified experts who can inspect your vehicle prior to purchase and provide you with a full written report. In addition to their complete understanding of the mechanical and aesthetic aspects of vehicle inspection, they have extensive experience with the Jaguar marque which perfectly equips them to identify the unique requirements of specific models and years, something that is particularly important for older cars.

The cost of an inspection begins at £100, with the final figure determined by the time needed and the distance the inspector is required to travel. We can guarantee that your inspection will be cheaper than an equivalent AA or RAC inspection.

This small upfront outlay could save you thousands in the long term.

To arrange an inspection simply call JEC Head Office on 0117 969 8186 and they will provide you with details of your nearest inspector.

Also from our club HQ in Bristol we can give you an official valuation for insurance purposes. Our valuations are accepted by all leading insurance brokers and Companies.

GETTING STARTED

Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club Insurance is designed specifically for members of the JEC. That’s why it covers JEC TrackSport events and offers cover for JEC Young Enthusiasts. Furthermore, the scheme recognises that members may have a combination of newer and more historic Jaguars and so the scheme caters for all, other individually or part of a multi-vehicle offering.

Club insurance doesn’t operate the way standard insurance does. While it does still take a vehicle’s mechanical characteristics into account, it also places a lot of emphasis on how the vehicle is used, cared for and maintained.

Club insurance also offers a host of benefits and products that you simply cannot get outside of membership of the JEC, such as member to member cover for example. This enables you to drive your friends Jaguars at regional meets, events and on tours with fully comprehensive cover and without the need to complete more paperwork or ring up and incur costs for adding named drivers.

This way, you’ll be comfortable knowing that you have a policy that fits your vehicle and your usage needs perfectly.
