Ahead of the 2026 Monaco E-Prix, Jaguar has revealed more of its forthcoming Type 01 luxury four-door GT as development prototypes lapped the famous street circuit in Monte Carlo.
Wearing a striking camouflage wrap inspired by Jaguar’s new design language, the prototypes were seen tackling iconic sections of the circuit, including Sainte-Dévote, Casino Square and La Rascasse. The wrap combines Jaguar’s ‘strikethrough’ motif with bold geometric graphics and vibrant colours to emphasise the car’s dramatic silhouette.
The Monaco appearance also underlines the close relationship between the Type 01 programme and Jaguar TCS Racing’s Formula E operation. Jaguar says technology developed through its all-electric race programme has directly influenced the new road car’s development.
According to Jaguar, the Type 01’s driving characteristics have benefited from expertise gained in Formula E, including all-wheel-drive control software and fast-switching silicon carbide-powered inverters. The company also says regenerative braking, charging performance and overall range have been improved using technology proven in competition.
Rawdon Glover said: “To achieve our vision for Type 01, we not only harnessed our Formula E know-how but also embedded the competition mindset of Jaguar TCS Racing in our engineering teams. This helped us develop innovative solutions for our luxury four-door GT that drives like no other electric car”.
Jaguar’s new four-door GT is due to be fully revealed later this year and will introduce the design, technology and engineering direction that will shape future Jaguar models.
