One of Le Mans’ most recognisable landmarks has changed its name. The famous Dunlop Bridge at the Circuit de la Sarthe is now officially the Goodyear Bridge. Construction has finished on the new spectator footbridge on the exit of the Dunlop Chicane at the Circuit de la Sarthe, which has replaced the iconic Dunlop Bridge.
This is more of a structural and branding refresh than a full rebuild, but it will be noticeably different for visitors to the hallowed circuit this year.
Why the change?
Goodyear owned the Dunlop tyre brand for many years. That’s why the Dunlop name featured so prominently at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and across global endurance racing.
However, Goodyear has since sold the Dunlop brand. With Dunlop no longer part of its portfolio — and no longer active at the top level of endurance racing — the bridge branding no longer made commercial sense.
At the same time, Goodyear has strengthened its own presence in the FIA World Endurance Championship, including its role as tyre supplier in LMGT3. The logical move was to align the circuit’s most visible tyre landmark with the brand now competing and investing in the championship.
Nothing physical has changed. The bridge still spans the track at the same spot, framing the run down towards the Dunlop Curve. Only the name across the top has altered.
For many fans, it marks the end of an era. The Dunlop logo was part of Le Mans’ visual identity for decades. But this change reflects a simple reality: tyre branding at Le Mans now matches the companies actively involved in today’s racing.
Same bridge. New name. A clear sign of how endurance racing continues to evolve.
