Drive it Day 2018 is celebrated across the UK and our members love nothing better than an excuse to get out there and drive their cats. This year was no different and many of our members got involved whether it was individually, on a tour or as part of a region and sent us their photos for you all to enjoy.
What is Drive it Day? Promoted by the FBHVC as an incentive to get classic cars out on the road Drive it Day always takes place as close to the original “1000 mile trial” which first took place on 23rd April 1900! This trial was originally organised by the “Automobile Club” and went through Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Derby, Kendal, Carlisle, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Leeds, Sheffield, Nottingham and back to London. For more details on what started Drive it Day you read the FBHVC page here and more information on the original 1000 mile trial here.
But for now, enjoy the images our members and regions sent in from across UK and Europe.

Essex Thameside Region
We started the day at the services off Junction 28 on A12, where 32 members joined us on a tour of Suffolk, first to Suffolk Sports Cars, where owner Roger Williams agreed to open up the factory special for our visit. From there we travelled on some back roads of Suffolk to Bury St. Edmunds and the Greene King Brewery for a tour, which incorporated a very nice tasting of their beers on such a very hot day (all small tasters of course). Finally, we headed off to Stowmarket to a very nice country pub – The Shepherd & Dog – for lunch/dinner. The weather was wonderful all day which made the day a terrific success. Thank you Drive it Day 2018!

NC500
Member Paul Hutchins was enjoying the magic of the NC500 spending 10 days in Scotland. If you wanted to tackle the NC500, this photo will make you book the route, what scenery.
Not just the UK!
Barrie March took his cat over to the continent to enjoy and sent us this image from their day exploring the Normandy beaches.

V12’s get a leg stretch too.
Kevin Stewart sent us the image of his lovely Warwick Grey V12 series 3 E Type at Holdsworth House Hotel setting for hit TV series “Last Tango in Halifax”. While Marc Hanson attended the popular “Sunday Scramble” at Bicester Heritage Centre in his Series 1 XJ12.

Sunday Scramble, Bicester Heritage
Roger Gage our keen eyed roving racing reporter sent us a huge collection of images from the above mention Sunday Scramble hosted at Bicester Heritage Centre. This hugely popular venue put on three “Scrambles” every year which are always well attended, with approximately 1000 classic cars attending this weekend. Club members save 50% on the entry ticket price if they book in advance. Next one is planned for 7th October 2018`, so keep an eye on our newsletter and website for details of that all important booking code. Below is a selection of images from the day, courtesy of Roger Gage.
