The Italian Job

September is our last run-out of the year as the evening gloom sets in quite quickly after that - up here at least - and for some time it has been our “Italian Job”. To get more folks out and about, the decision was to make it a lunch outing and that is why 9 cars, and 15 members, including new member Roddy with his XKR, met for a morning cappuccino, before setting off for a leisurely drive to the “Old Royal Station” for lunch. We were lucky in that the sunshine came to play and the convertibles, of which there were 5, enjoyed top-down motoring as we followed the River Dee from Banchory to Ballater. The manager at the Old Royal Station had enlisted the chef to fulfil the “Italian” element and most folks opted for the Lasagne, although Sticky Toffee Pudding was the dessert of choice. After a relaxed and convivial lunch, we were given permission to bring our Chairman’s Series 1 E-type to the front of the building and pose for the group photo. From October, it will be inside events and whilst our AGM will be on Friday the 8th of November, at Kippie Lodge, all being well we will enjoy a technical visit during October, so keep an eye on your inbox for the details. Our Christmas event this year will also be a lunchtime meeting, on Saturday the 7th of December, again at Kippie Lodge – get your names to Jim Mann in plenty of time please.
