What a tremendous start to our 2019 season with our new event for Drive it Day - a run and tour around Alexander Dennis bus factory in Falkirk.
The sun was shining, and it was even warm enough to feel the heat in an E Type roadster! 23 of us ventured out in 14 cars and we welcomed three new members into our ranks.
We would like to thank our hosts at Alexander Dennis who laid on refreshments and showed us interesting videos before our tour of the factory. In 1960, they designed and built the one-off Ecurie Ecosse transporter which carried two D-types on top and one inside and they showed us a historic video of the Ecurie Ecosse team in their hey-day.
Seeing the process of the buses develop from a chassis to the road ready vehicle is certainly far removed from our experiences of spending hours in drafty garages during the winter months painstakingly repairing and restoring our beloved cars. The only saving grace is that they are much smaller than the three axle monsters!
We continued our run and enjoyed a good chat and catch up over dinner in Kinross. A great start to the season and looking forward to our next outing to the Bridge of Allan show in May.
