Derbyshire Region December Report

This is Roger's Report for December 2021 which will subsequently appear in the JEC Club Magazine

We had no monthly meeting in December as we organised a Christmas Lunch at Biggin Hall for Sunday 19th and as usual had an excellent time, with good food/company and service. We initially had 45 but with the new strain of Covid spreading and the Government announcements a few decided to drop out and some others had relatives testing positive, so the week before the event the numbers started to fall. It didn’t however spoil the day and we have to say a big thanks to everyone at Biggin Hall for their co operation and understanding with the ever changing numbers. A quick “poll” on the day revealed everyone was up for the same next year, so we have booked Sunday 18th December 2022 and this will be confirmed in the next email.

Other than that there is little to report. We are moving back to the Robin Hood in Baslow as from January, and this meeting will be at lunchtime from 12 noon onwards. This is a bit of an experiment, as sometimes the weather can be a bit unpredictable in Derbyshire in the first quarter, and many won’t bother to venture out in the evenings. Some members have 45 minutes to an hours’ drive to attend, and the thought of getting home in the dark and possible snowy conditions put people off. We will see the response then decide about the February meeting.

The programme for 2022 is more or less complete and Phil Cheetham has managed to fix a meeting for us at Inchcape Derby on Saturday 26th March starting around 10am. They will give us a tour of the facility and hopefully a talk about the electrification of the new Jaguar models, plus there will be light refreshments available. They are planning to have a few cars available for us to drive, so it should be an interesting event and if any of you have any specific requests for the dealership then let Phil or one of us know and we will see what we can arrange.
