August News from Bed Region

Beds regions activities in July and August: Puloxhill and Foxton Locks

Once again, the Region flew the J.E.C. flag at several events recently.

We collaborated with the Loose Alliance Car Group with a joint display at the South Bedfordshire Classic Vehicle Show at Pulloxhill. The following weekend a large gathering at the Flitwick Car Show together with members from the Bucks & Herts Region. Both events are really well attended by visitors and have become an annual fixture in the Region’s calendar.

On the 29 th August we had a full day Drive-Out, with a twelve car group using tulip diagram routes. After a 10.00 a.m. rendezvous at Castle Ashby, driving onto the historic Foxton Locks near Market Harborough for a walk about, museum visit and lunch, with people either picnicking or taking advantage of one of the many cafes or pubs.

Then onto “The Depot” at Weedon Bec, being the former Royal Ordnance Depot built in the early 1800’s. There now exists a Visitor Centre and various businesses in converted buildings, one notable being Gasoline Juice a motor-themed event venue.

Pleased to report that all drivers managed to complete the route, although there were several minor re-routes along the way for some.

At the time of writing the next big event is our exhibitor area at the Piston and Props event at Sywell on the 21st and 22nd September.
