2020 Programme - March Update

Meetings will be on the fourth Wednesday of each month at the Granville at Barford unless otherwise stated. For evening meal arrive 6:30 to 7:00. Activity will commence at 8:00 First item in each month will be the event/s organised by the Region and then other events of interest will be listed in chronological order. These will be added to as and when – if you are aware of events that could be of interest then please send the information to [email protected]

Wednesday 25th – visiting speaker – Viv Thomas, a local Shakespeare and economics expert. The subject that Viv will be speaking on is “Words that Dance” – you’re going to need to come to find out more!

Jaguar Spares Day at NAC Stoneleigh – Sunday 15th March – if you’re looking for elusive parts or accessories this is the place to be details here
JEC Track Day at Castle Combe
– Friday 20th March. If you fancy giving your car a blast under controlled conditions at a race track then this is your opportunity. Alternatively just come along to observe and be part of the day in a lovely part of the Cotswolds – details here

April
Wednesday 15th (NB - NOT the 4th Wednesday) – we are going to Bicester Heritage for a presentation by Sir John Egan on ‘Saving Jaguar’. The event timing is from 18:30 to 22:00 at the venue so we will need to leave Warwickshire in good time – more details nearer the time. This event is organised by the Oxford Region. With the lighter evenings we will organise a scenic route through the countryside to Bicester Heritage – chance to get the cars out and stretch their legs!

May
1st to 4th – Weekend Away to be based at the Abbey Hotel in Malvern with a full programme (includes time for visiting and shopping!). Scenic runs around the Malvern countryside using Tulip routes (don’t panic all will be explained!) and we are hoping to plan an optional visit to the Morgan factory on the Monday morning. Places are filling fast, full details are here

June
Wednesday 24th – first of our daytime runs. The plan is to travel to the JCB factory at Uttoxeter for a guided visit then returning to the Granville at Barford for BBQ. Those unable to make the full day (well worth it if you can!) will be able to join in the evening

Wednesday 26th – A day out starting with a breakfast meet and then going into the Cotswolds with visits to the Cotswold Distillery and the Whichford Ceramic Works and then returning to the Granville at Barford for the evening

Wednesday 28th – An evening with either Admiral Horatio Nelson or Sir Francis Drake – we are currently waiting on confirmation from respective secretaries…! How can this be? Max Keen, a retired teacher, talks about Horatio Nelson or Francis Drake in period costume. Something a little different.

Wednesday 25th – Richard West has had an extraordinary career in motor sport including Williams, McLaren, TWR-Jaguar, Arrows F1 and then back to Williams in 1994. Richard was one of the last people to talk to Ayrton Senna who he counted among his personal friends and his contact list is a veritable ‘Who’s Who’ of the top echelons of motor racing – he is a business trainer and international speaker with clients all around the world – an evening not to be missed!
