JEC South Lincs - June 2022 Regional Report

Hooray, we are meeting up again, but "Good News / Bad News" ........

Our June club news follows.....

The welcome return to indoor meetings in March brought an unwanted visitor, with one third of those present contracting Covid. Fortunately, everyone has since recovered but the high infection rate served as a reminder about the importance of maintaining safeguards against the virus, especially good ventilation. Consequently, members were looking forward to participating in the outdoor gatherings detailed here last month and on our webpages. The first of those events was April’s ‘TrackDay and Car Meet’ at Mallory Park, which four members attended. Our chairman, Neil Jervis, volunteered to assist National JEC organisers and spent much of the day welcoming folks, before signing them up for their on-track activities. Luckily, he found time to see some of the action, including watching our vice-chairman, Neal Mugglestone, take to the circuit in his gorgeous XK180. Neal’s car attracted many admirers, who no doubt enjoyed comparing his stunning replica with the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust’s prototype. Phill and George were there too, for exciting passenger rides around the challenging course.

The following week, Neal showed photographs of his car’s exploits at the (well-ventilated!) monthly meeting. Carol amused everyone by wearing a ‘protective’ paper bag on her head in a light-hearted attempt to avoid reinfection! Davina provided the evening’s entertaining quiz, comprising general knowledge and car-related questions. Wendy, Paul, and Dave won, but had mixed fortunes with the raffle; Wendy received good news while Dave ‘won’ the bad. Finally, members were delighted to host Brian Hazel, visiting from Inverness.
