JEC Oxfordshire Region Restarts Face-2-Face, Covid-19 Secure, Open Nights

The JEC Oxfordshire Region has missed getting together to discuss all things Jaguar and to enjoy the present heatwave. Along the way we were able to look at a great display of great Jaguars, meet a number of new members as well as hear from Andy Webber, the Club's Sponsorship and Events Manager, about a new membership benefit from Shell & plans for the JEC Festival 2021 at Blenheim Palace.

26 Oxfordshire Region Members enjoyed a great Open Night on 12th August whilst recruiting new Region Subscribers and hearing about a great future programme.

Since 2018-19 the JEC Oxfordshire Region has got into a rhythm of some great, monthly on the 2nd Tuesday, Open Nights. Good food, good drink, good friends, good cars and good banter at great pubs. What more could one ask ?? Perhaps in a Covid-19 world, the answer to that is simply being able to get out and about.

We had not previously ventured into the ‘North West’ of the Shire and we had hoped to do so this time. However, all the pubs in that part of Oxfordshire seem to close on Tuesdays at present !! So we had the, hardly onerous ,task of returning to one of our stalwart venues - The Bird in Hand, Hailey near Witney.

This great venue has a good sized car park - excellent for displaying our various sets of wheels and some great outdoor space that some 24 of us could sit in without breaching social distancing rules.

We were very pleased to welcome new Region Friends - Karl Thompson, Paul Bridges, Neil Allen and Martin Richie. They in turn had brought mates with them and the Region ended the night 'up' a number of new Subscribers. Being told that they'd had to come and meet this active Region was a real encouragement.

As well as unveiling the (still heavily provisional of course) Region's 2020-2021 programme and receiving updates on the imminent activities, we were fortunate to have Andy Webber, the Club's Sponsorship & Events Manager, present to update us on the new Shell member benefit of reduced fuel prices and to give us some sneak previews of the 2021 JEC / JDC Festival at Blenheim Palace etc. As the 'Host Region' we will be very closely involved and even delivering parts of the weekend once again, but it will clearly be 'mega'.

We also took final bookings for our '[email protected]' event the following Wednesday and that too is set to be great but a report on that next week.

So, if you weren't there, you did miss out !!
