JEC Oxfordshire Members Enjoy A Most Successful Visit to 'This Is Your Garage'

A Hardy group of Region members - Including three new ones - visit TIYG to check over their cars, do some minor works and examine some particularly eye-catching Jaguars. These included a Lister 666 F-Type, a superbly restored and presented XJS V12 and a cabriolet conversion of a Daimler V8.

A fantastic facility, now a sponsor of the Oxfordshire Region, some fantastic Jaguar cars and components on show, some new Region Subscribers, some re-assured Jaguar owners and some good food. What a result !

A small number of JEC Oxfordshire Members are already users of This Is Your Garage ('TIYG') in Culham, Oxfordshire. Some had kindly allowed their cars to be displayed for other Region members, despite one (unnamed) member not himself being able to attend.

TIYG has 7 bays with either 2 or 4 post lifts and each bay has a full tool kit, there is also wheel alignment, engine hoists etc. etc.. The owners, David and Richard, were happy to host a club night at the premises attended by a dozen Region members, with others unable to attend due to mist, fog, illness and breakdowns !!

Whilst this provided the ideal setting for 5 of us to inspect our cars' undersides others got to watch the fun, examine all the lovely Jags, a rebuilt 4.2L XK engine, a Jaguar axle and eat some well-presented grub.

During the evening, we were able to 'sign-up' Stuart Craig, Mark Chappell and Ross Howard as Region subscribers. Welcome gentlemen ! Nick Morse (see the February Magazine X-Type Forum pages) was able to examine the underside of his X-Type and get re-assurance from a friendly Jaguar Master Technician that he had indeed obtained a sound car.

Steve, our Region Chair, even proved he had a Boiler Suit, knew how to put it on and could even work on his car (even if it was only digging the accumulated mud and other filth inside his front and rear bumpers / valances / skirts / whatever) !!

It is clear that the Region, when playing its part in the events that will make up the 2021 JEC / JDC Festival at Blenheim Palace, will draw TIYG into the mix in some way.....

And next the Region is off to Studio 434 at Potters Bar to see the hundreds of cars that make up that stunning collection.
