JEC Oxfordshire Enjoys an Excellent, Socially Distanced, Open Night at Ye Olde Swan, Radcot on 8th September

Open nights, held right around Oxfordshire, have become a staple of this JEC Region's programme. Social distancing etc. may add a little complexity but a well set-up pub makes even that easy.

After a successful August Open Night at an old stamping ground, it was time to revert to going to a new area of the Shire. So this time we went off 'south west' to the picturesque and welcoming Ye Olde Swan at Radcot, near Bampton, near Faringdon.

It proved a great choice and the Region will definitely return.

What a Great Place to Choose to Meet

Ye Olde Swan are old(e) hands at welcoming and hosting car clubs. With lovely cotswold stone pub buildings next to bridges over the river thames, lots of parking to allow members to display together, a marquee in which to socially distanced meet, eat & drink, an outside bar and a BBQ, everything slotted into place very nicely.

A goodly number of new and 'old' members came together

JEC Oxfordshire events continue to attract a decent number of members, and their partners, who clearly want to 'escape' Covid-19 for a while whilst still doing the right thing and keeping within the Covid-19 rules.

In doing so we have been able to do our bit to inject funds into our local economy. Certainly the food was very good - hot, well cooked and presented and yet also incredible value. we would recommend the pub to others. Perhaps we should plan to meet our Swindon Region neighbours there some time....

But these evenings are even better when we are able to meet, welcome and recruit as Region Subscribers new members. Some had met us the previous weekend at Gaydon's Jaguar Breakfast Club, which helped. But clearly we are doing things right.

So we welcomed Malcolm Ritchie (E-Type), David Whitehouse (XJ6), Mike Sharp (XJ-S Cbriolet), Steve and Sandy McAleer (X Type). Welcome all.

All in All, Some Very Fine Cars on Display

We had a total of 15 Jaguars proudly displayed together below our Region Flag, making something of a Jaguar timeline. A number also came from Sir John Egan's time at the helm, so we already know which cars we will want to be our 'venue guardians' for his talk in October.

The roll-call ended as 2 x E-Type, 2 x XJ-S, 1 x XJ6, 2 x Daimler XJs, 1 x XK8, 4 x XK / XKR, 2 x X-Type, 1 x XF.

Quite a show !
