JEC Oxfordshire Enjoys An Excellent Christmas Lunch with 39 Members, Partners and Friends Present

A welcoming drink, a 4 course meal with wine, tea and coffee, in our own reserved area of the pub restaurant, went down a treat. The Christmas season has now really arrived in the JEC's Oxfordshire Region !!

A dedicated and spacious area, dressed by The Bystander's staff (that includes a Manager who is an XF-driving Jaguar Enthusiast and one of the catering team whose partner is a Region member), makes for a very jolly time.

After a success dinner last year, attended by about 24 diners when we were less than 6 months old, there was unanimous agreement to have a meal again this year but as a lunch. The lunch provided a great opportunity to celebrate what a splendid year 2019 was for the JEC Oxfordshire Region - if if we did luck out for a Star Award !

It was rather surprise to our Chairman, Steve Daniels, that the Region Members had decided to Award him an improptu - but none the less massive - trophy as their Chairman of the Year. Rob Eduljee - our furthest flung member - in Rugby - kindly did the honours of the presentation speech that was mostly some highly entertaining gags.

The Chairman did note that the field was a small one but expressed his heartfelt thanks whilst also noting that being the Chairman continues to be fun and actually was a matter of leading a team effort.

Oure venue, The Bystander, is a well-known pub restaurant in central Oxfordshire that has been recently, and comprehensively, renovated. Working in our favour, we have members who live nearby and even work there. Better still, the Manager is an XF-driving Jaguar Enthusiast that we clearly must recruit !

Kicking off with a welcoming prosecco (or juice) at 12:30, attendees sat down to a 4 course lunch with wine or soft drink from a wide menu and then finished up with tea and coffee. The price charged even generated a nice little surplus to go into Region funds. The food was excellent and the portions generous.

Our parking was in a dedicated area and our Region flags proudly flew.

We will definitely return to the Bystander, possibly even for a summer meal.

We're sorry if you could not make it, but you missed a real treat. Perhaps we'll catch up with you at the Bicester Heritage Scramble on Sunday 5th January, when we will again put on a great display in our usual area next to the Watch Office. Will we see you there ???
