JEC Oxfordshire Enjoys an Evening of Sun & Friendship at its August Open Night near Henley

For August, a time of prime Jaguar driving, the weather has been decidedly poor. But more than 20 JEC Oxfordshire members, most with partners and friends, made the most of a surprisingly fine evening for a drive out to this lovely country pub.

Oxfordshire's Open Nights are steadily building up a following. Our August meeting was no exception.

Our July Open Night, at the Bird in Hand at Hailey near Witney, had food to die for and was attended by 24 members and family. August being holiday season we did not expect to match that, but we did.

Whilst the Region's 2019-2020 programme was being finalised, it seemed right to keep continuity by having an Open Night in August. As it happens, our Programme was released the previous day so there was lots to talk about and it seems the programme is going to be as popular as it is busy !!

For our Open Nights there's no need to book, just turn up, so it was unclear just how many members etc. would attend. Similarly, as the JEC Oxfordshire Region moves its meetings around the shire, and had not previously been 'South East', this month's venue in the Henley-on-Thames area was a gamble.

But in this case it was one that paid off with nearly 40 people in attendance, a good number of whom were indeed from the area and new to Region meetings.

The Rising Sun at Witheridge Hill has a large-ish car park, more than large enough to handle the influx of c.20 Jaguars of all types that made for a great display. With the Owner and the Manager both being car nuts and pub selling good food and drinks there was no reason that the evening would not be great, and so it proved.

A number of new subscribers to the Region were secured as were many 'bookings' for future meetings (see our events entries).

We will be very pleased to see you if you join us for any of our future meetings..
