For our second meeting of 2022 we again met at The Robin Hood at lunchtime on the 8th February. The total attendance was 33, with a good showing of Jaguars and also a few new faces and some that we have not seen for a few years.
The Robin Hood made us very welcome and was seemingly enjoyed by all.
Geoff recapped on plans for the year, including a trip to Dovedale Garage in May (Sunday 8th is the proposed date, but yet to be confirmed), where we will be encouraging members and friends to bring along their classic cars (not necessarily Jaguars!). Gringley on the Hill classic car meet (south of Doncaster, about 1 hour's drive from the Robin Hood) is being held on Saturday 12th June and offers the chance for a run out, a classic car gathering and also 'open gardens in the village. The proposed visit to CMC in Bridgenorth on Saturday 23rd April has also been mentioned and we await further details on the proposed visit to this very interesting business. The Inchcape visit on Saturday 26th March is still in the calendar and will hopefully take the form of an open day with vehicles available for test drives.
We are considering making the March meeting a lunchtime one, and the reaction of members present appeared favourable to this. April onwards will revert to evening meetings, but consideration is being given to additional lunchtime meetings over the summer months if enough interest is shown.
** The images below show my XK en route to the February meeting, the car having undergone it's usual winter paintwork polish, wax and sealant treatment, along with wheel wax, chrome polish and finally glass polish and Rain-X treatment. If only the 'Bonnets Up' judging had been in February I might have stood a chance! The car won't look this good for another year!
