"La Riviera" SS100 Replica

Postby RoyC » Thu Oct 16, 2014 2:40 pm

Noel Edmonds , who now resides in Monaco (thanks to his latest game show success) and is a Morgan dealer, has just launched his new venture. "La Riviera" is an SS100 replica, but with air-conditioning :? and an auto box.

Interview here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=p ... ebxo#t=227

So, what do you chaps think? A Suffolk with a few toys and bling? Or is it scratch built?

It looks entirely Suffolk to me with a few modified badges. But it looks OK so good for him.
Maybe the Snetterton 5 should drive down and invite Mr Edmonds to join us on this BB.
I even understand the Air Con The Riviera at the height of summer is too hot. But what I do not understand is why not leave the SS in the garage when it is that hot and take the Range Rover, or in my case the Skoda.

Roy,

With you guys having a good relationship with Roger, couldn't you find out if he's building the cars for this venture?

As NE seems to be keeping the bulk of the design and build pure, I say good luck to him, especially if it helps to raise the awareness and appreciation of these models. I wonder how much of a price premium there will be compared to just having a Suffolk built to that spec?

Hello Chaps,
So, it's finally broken cover !! I have known about this car for sometime but as a courtesy to all concerned at Suffolk Sports Car Engineering, I haven't said anything.
Noel arrived at the factory with all his minders in tow and was obviously as impressed by the car, the factory and the great team of blokes who build them as I am.
I'm in the dark as to how he is selling what is a Suffolk SS100 as another car however, you can be sure that both Roger and Frazer have got it all sorted and good for them.
As an aside, it is interesting that Noel is going to sell Morgans in Monaco as this was the car I sold to buy my SS.

Reg,

The car in the video has an English reg plate so I assume(?) it is registered as a Suffolk SS100 rather than a "Riviera SS100"? Or perhaps not?

Like (almost) all Suffolks, it is registered as a Jaguar. Although this one is a 3442cc XJ6.

By the way Reg, have you noticed Roger's new logo, without the lozenge or "Jaguar" ?
JLR have been on the case of all the specialists who use the Jaguar name for a while now.
I was at my local Jag specialist yesterday (Service & new MOT) who are still holding out!

Roy,
No, I must admit that I haven't noticed the change. On a positive note, that must make our key rings future collectables !!!!

Yes I like Mr Edmonds car. I particularly like the two tone paint job something I gave thought to when building mine. If you move away from the cars being recreations of the Jaguar SS100 and go along with the style of the 1930s sports cars as I think Noel Edmonds is doing it allows one to add more individual features etc to the car as it isn't trying to be a replica. I like it. Perhaps Noel will invite us over for a week to his placeif we play our cards right!! John.

Hi all Suffolk owners
I have finally found time to post a blog
I completed the build of my Suffolk in March 2010 and beat Noel Edmonds to Monaco by 4.5 years see Photo
I am sorry I missed Snetterton I was on hols. looks good from the photos, 4jagsjohn told me about it
I have had the usual problems and resolved most of them, more of the resolutions in another blog for now I am just working out how to master this bulletin Board!!

Dave,
A big welcome to our growing band of owners. I do hope we will hear more from you in the coming months as you, like Neil and others, having built your cars will have lots of tips etc for the rest of us.
I hope that next season we will be able to do some more events together as Snetterton was a real success and caused quite a lot of interest amongst the other race goers.

Hello Dave,
I hope you can make the next "meet". I will keep an eye on what's on and let everyone know in good time.
Before that we have the London Classic Car Show at ExCel in the New Year. My wife and I am going, booked the hotel a while back, and we are meeting Roy there. Any chance you will be going?
As you may have gathered, I have been talking to Roger about a "C" type and, although we have stalled at the moment, there is still a chance.
Re. the "Riviera" car, Roger was sworn to secrecy about it but he is of course building them but how Noel is going to sell them at between 100.000 and 150.000GBP I fail to see.

Reg
