XJS 3.6 1989 loss of power steering

Postby hutch123 » Mon Jun 16, 2008 3:01 pm

It has always been on the heavy side, then the other day no assistance at all. It also appeared that the reservior was weeping, or was being pressured. I ran the enging with the pipe off and got plenty of pressure.
So the basics are there.

What next ??

quite possibly the seals in the actual rack letting the fluid by, and not assisting the steering at all

this will be a rack out refurbishment,

as long as the metal components are in ok condition, the rack can be refurbished with a £25 kit, if you do the work yourself

or a refurb rack can be bought for about £150

pays ur money , takes ur choice jobby to be honest
