Replacement body panels

Postby MartinH5XJS » Tue Jan 31, 2017 2:33 pm

I've just started to strip down my XJS to repair the rust around the wheel arches. I have new replacement wing panels but have come across more rust around the lower quarters and the corners under the rear lights. I'm hoping someone can help as I can't find a replacement L/H lower quarter and a repair panel for the lower light panel.

Welcome to the forum!

Which car is it? I'm pretty sure the design is different between FL and HE. Some pictures are nice / helpful btw ;)

The lower rear quarters are an absolute classic - mine are gone too on the driver side. Keep an active search on eBay and contact breakers if their panel is any good.

yup , some work to do

where are you located ?

i have a full off side rear panel ( drivers door jamb to back lights surround , roof to sills ) that we can come to a deal on ? but it would need collecting

i will dig it out for a picture

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jaguar-XJS-Re ... SwSgJXN5DW

options 2 here , this guy will cut out good sections for you
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SIMPLYPERFORM ... xyyF5RO5Ud

jacking point and radius repair sections ( i have some spares of these to )

a bit of lateral thinking will also gain you repair sections, door bottoms will act as front wing repair sections, as the profile is the same, just as it is for in front of the back wheels, doors are cheap to buy and cut up for repair panels

I'm just North of Aberdeen, travelling is not a big problem. If you could dig out some pics of what you have that would be good.

Good luck with the work. I am personally looking for a new front wing for a 1978 XJS if you know the whereabouts ?
Best, Derek
