ac compressor clutch

Postby happycat » Tue Jun 03, 2014 4:22 pm

Hi am right in thinking that the clutch should only engage when the temp control knob is pushed in? the only time my compressor clutch seems to disengage is when I turn the blower off! if I pull the temp knob out the clutch is still engaged, also im getting a rattley grinding noise from the compressor now and then but not all the time

No.

The compressor should run whenever the system is on, subject to pressures, Ranco thermostats etc.

The system is intended to have air con on all the time, whether cooling, heating or just maintaining.

There are differences between the systems, depending on model year, so it might help to add details to your signature if you have any further questions?
