Change pully on AC compressor?

Postby BjornV » Sun Jul 31, 2011 10:32 am

Hello everyone.

A Jaguar enthusiast from Sweden here.

I have a question about Air-Con and would like to have your oppinion.
The car i question is my -94 XJS V12 coupé.

The background is in short like this. The Air-Con on the car had been out of order for several years. last winter I appoached a shop about it. The result was a new condensor and reciver/dryer.
That got the AC working fo a while, but then the compressor sprung a leak. As far as I know a replacemant is needed.

Now for the question:
The compressor is a Sanden SD7H15. A friend of mine has a used unit that looks the same with the exception that it has a multi-groove pully, where mine has a single v-belt.
Would it be possible to take te pully from my old compressor and fit to this one?
Or is it simply stupid to fit an old unit and I should go for a brand new one?

Best regards

without knowing what the pulley mount looks like, i can't say for sure

but

if the mount is the same then there should be no reason not to swap them over ,

as long as the ' used ' unit functions correctly , then i see no reason not to fit it
