S2 Windows do not operate

Postby Jag-phil » Tue Jul 17, 2018 9:06 pm

The windows on my 1976 Daimler Sovereign are no longer operating.

As it is all windows, I am assuming that it must be a common component that has failed.

Namely, the circuit breaker.

My question is, can anyone assist me by telling me where I may find it?

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Regards.

Phil

The window cut-out is located near the flasher unit behind the driver's side of the dashboard. The cut-out unit you need to test is the upper one mounted horizontally. The door lock cut-out should be the same sort of unit mounted vertically nearby. Mike.

Thanks Mike

I can hear the flasher unit but cannot see it.

To locate the window circuit breaker do I need to remove the dash top, panel below the steering column or both?

Kind regards.

Phil

You will need to remove the lower dash panel near the fuse box (below the column). Even then, access isn't wonderful but it's probably less aggravating than removing the dash top. Working upside down in the footwell is never pleasant, is it? Mike.

Thanks Mike

Thermal breaker now located and proved to be the cause of the problem.

While I look for a replacement I have put a in-line fuse in for the time being.

Thanks for all your help.

Phil
