TPMS errors

Postby NickJag16! » Wed Sep 13, 2017 2:56 pm

I have a 59 plate XFS diesel and I get intermittent tyre pressure reports in the dash display even though I know the tyre pressures are correct at 34 psi each. The error reports appear to be randomly distributed across all four wheels and not just one wheel. Some days the reports are more frequent than others and sometimes, frustratingly, there are no reports!

I bumped into another JEC member at the Arundel Jaguar day last month and he suggested taking the pressure up to say 39 psi and dropping to the 34 psi operating pressure, tyres cold and engine off. This seemed to help for a while but now the problem has returned.

Further research on the Internet revealed a variant on the above of: engine off and drop the pressures to 25% below 34 psi or 25 psi or less, I think 18 psi was suggested. Then, with ignition (and engine?) on, increase the pressures back up to 34 psi again.

Has anyone any experience of either of these techniques working or am I looking at dealer intervention?!

Thanks, Nick

Hi Nick, try this from the US forum site:

Turn ignition off and deflate tyres at least by 25%
Turn ignition on and inflate tyres to correct pressure
Let it settle for a couple of days, and it should all go good.

Andy, many thanks, I'll try the 'drop by 25%' method and see how the system behaves after that!
