Any advice on this one would be appreciated....
I have a 2009 3L Diesel XF, 78k miles with full dealer service history. To date she has been pretty damned faultless and is a joy to drive.
Been in today for her annual service and I have been advised of 2 minor oil leaks from the turbo which will necessitate a whole new turbo unit at a fitted cost of c.£2.7k.
Seems a "little excessive" to me.
Thoughts, advice, guidance would be appreciated.
Reconditioned turbo chargers and in fact many parts of this nature are often relatively easily sourced and come with a decent warranty. Official Main Dealers are more inclined to want to sell you a new unit whereas an independent will perhaps be more customer focused and may help you save on costs.

It is always worth shopping around for improved prices. Savings can be quite suprising.
Just been back to pick up the car and viewed the video which clearly shows a leak from the offside turbo clamp and misting on the nearside intake pipe.
I have agreed to take her back in October/November where they will examine for any deterioration and offered to clean & tighten the nearside for the princely sum of £153.60.....don't forget the 60p now!.
Before that happens though it will be a trip to Lincolnshire Jaguar Specialists (who maintain my XJS) for a second opinion as you rightly suggest.
