Pepperpot Alloys - is there a difference:xj6 vs xj12?

Postby CliveRothwell » Mon Apr 12, 2010 8:50 pm

I have just bought a nice set of rims only to find the rim size is 6.5 J x 15 as opposed to 6x15. Oother codes on them are
ET33
5x4.75 AND
JC 1565

They do not have a GKN logo like the rims fitted to the car.

Are they acutually xj12 rims or pattern copies?

Anybody got any info on this please?

Regards

Clive

As far as I can see in the parts catalogues, the part numbers are the same for V12 and 6 cylinder cars. I know that's not absolutely definitive and don't know if Jaguar used a supplier other than GKN and unfortunately my V12 came with Kents rather than (to me at any rate) the much nicer looking pepperpot.

Initially both cars were fitted with the same tyre. Later the V12 got a slightly wider one but kept the same wheel.

Thanks Al - I knew you would know! I thought very much the same; the tyre depot did say that the wider 215 rim fitting would take 205 tyres OK, so it seems like the 215 rim was an original fitment.

(Had the day from Hell removing spring pan bolts - 3 hours to remove on bolt so we ran out of garage time.....................)
