Can someone confirm if what i describel below is normal operation for parking brake warning light on the dashboard.
1) So this seems normal put handbrake on, light comes on, relase parking brake light goes off
2) With ignition or engine running... when I move from P to D with foot on brake light goes off
3) My real question is this one.... so when I turn off with the car in Park the warning stays on for a few seconds and then goes off, this happens whether the parking brake is engaged on or released before i turn the engine off, is that normal, does the parking brake dash light come on for a few seconds on all cars when you turn off the engine.
The parking brake comes on automatically when the car is placed in Park and the ignition is turned off. As my drive is on a slight slope I prefer to always apply it manually before moving to Park; this is so that the prop shaft and drive shaft UJs are not under any load while it's parked.

I totally understand that it come on automatically I just wouldn't have thought that the parking light would have been illuminated when the engine was turned off and that it my real question is it correct for the light to be on when the engine is turned off
