Newbie with incoming Jaguar

Postby Pistonbroke » Tue Jan 08, 2019 4:03 pm

Hi everyone, just bought my first Jaguar ever after getting rid of my Boxster. Decided that it was time to own a classic again as I really enjoyed my last one (A Triumph Vitesse). The Jaguar XJ cars have always held a fascination for me and have taken the plunge, so after a viewing and a good few grand off the price I have a nice Series 2, 1979MY Moroccan Bronze XJ 5.3 arriving on Saturday. Probably lots of head scratching, meeting new friends at petrol stations, but hey what the hell, not many affordable classics that throw in a naturally aspirated V12

Well done! The V12 is a wonderful engine, even if it is a touch thirsty. The mechanics are straightforward. It's just that there are a lot of them under the bonnet. Enjoy the car's ride, its smoothness and that superb push in the back when you accelerate briskly. It's enough to surprise a lot of modern car drivers. Mike.
