front and rear screens

Postby blackbeltuk » Mon Dec 01, 2014 6:36 pm

Hi.
I'm going to get my S type back soon from the body shop. before I put my screens in.
is there any sealer that I can use with the new rubbers to make them more watertight.
And to stop any water seeping though the rubbers.
Thanks in advance Ricky

Is this for the rubber to screen or rubber to bodywork as there are potentially different solutions to use? For instance I have used commercially available leak sealers on the rubber to screen side of things as they run and search through any week spots and for the body side of things both a thin bead of silicon or acrylic in the root of the rubber before fitting has lasted me many many years since I changed the rubbers. Of course good cleanliness on the glass and good even metal on the body side in the first place help.

Cheers Paul.
Metal work around the screens is good as I
Have had a full bare metal respray. I didn't
Think about glass to rubber. But now you have
Mention it I'll do that as well.
Ricky.
