heater fan motor upgrade

Postby john8651 » Thu May 08, 2008 10:39 am

I have seen many articles that mention replacing the Mk2’s original heater motor and fan with one from a Metro. None of these articles tell you how this replacement is achieved. The Metro’s fan motor is embedded in a plastic casing that forms the fan housing. When removed from the housing there is no suitable form of mounting for fixing it to the Mk2’s fan housing. If anyone has made this exchange and/or knows of the recommended method of fitting the Metro motor onto the Mk2 heater fan housing I would be grateful for any information.

Hi

I have done this on my own car. If you send me your e-mail I'll send you a couple of pictures.
It's not hard to do, just drill a couple of hole and use the motor bolts to hold it onto the heater casing. put small blanking grommets into the old holes.
You then have a slightly bigger motor turning a plastic fan.

bye-o
