Re: Ignition switched supply XK8 - 2003 Coupe

Success with these types of jobs proves that not all work on these electronically controlled beauties is out of reach of we mere mortals! :D Mike.

Re: Engine Size

Well done on finding a local car to view. To answer your queries, a supercharged X100 does have a very distinctive noise when the throttle is wide open and the supercharger is working hard. Some people relish the type of noise. Others less so. It's simply a matter of taste. However, bear in mind kee...

Re: 96 XK8 P1367 & P1368 Fault Codes & Engine Stalling - Now P0335

Realistically, with a car which has already been messed with, you need the car to be scanned by an experienced specialist with the Jaguar diagnostics or Autologic system to bottom the problem quickly. The alternative is to progressively replace each module/its wiring until you find the culprit (an e...

Re: 1974 series 2 4.2 difficult to start after 60 mile run

Another item to think about is the oil pressure operated fuel cut-out. To ensure the fuel pumps don't operate after the engine stalls/stops, very low oil pressure cuts the power to the fuel pumps. Your mention of seeing the oil pressure light illuminated and adding engine oil etc may be clues. Of co...

These issues are typical of low battery condition. As a minimum, if you haven't given yours a full recharge yet, it would be sensible to start there. Mike.

Re: 96 XK8 suspected CAN BUS issue (ECU TCU ABS Cluster)

In general, if a module is part of the car's security system, it will need to be recoded. The engine ECU and instrument modules definitely are so it's unlikely substitutions will work correctly. Mike.

Re: V12 stalling ... in the afternoon!

With faults like this which you can't replicate in the safety of your garage you will need to be logical and work through all the possibilities. If the failures occur suddenly with no other symptoms, the chances are that the issue is electrical, cutting off either sparks or the electrics to the fuel...

Re: Daimler Double Six coolant

Hi, It's not entirely unusual for hoses to separate from radiator stubs if they still have their spring rather than jubilee-style clips. The clips seem to lose tension with age, especially if the hoses are old. By 1996, it is likely your car left the factory with red long life antifreeze rather than...

Re: 3.4 litre engine numbers

Here are some of the more obvious answers to some of your queries. 3.4 litre engines from XJ ser 2 cars have the 8A prefix to the engine numbers. They were indeed based on the offset 4.2 litre bore spacings and Jaguar didn't alter the cylinder heads to suit! However, that didn't seem to matter in pr...

Re: Upgraded Xk8 door hinge

Part numbers for doors changed as well. Consequently, there may be a risk that hinges and doors changed together to allow for thicker hinges. If so, you may be better off sourcing a good second hand item. Perhaps, for everyone's benefit, you could report back after you have solved the issue. Mike.

Re: Soft top cover

Here's one suggestion. Originally, when Jaguar delivered convertibles (X100s) to dealers it was suggested that dealers offered to the first owners the lightweight protective cover used in transit over the hoods. Even today these covers, tailored to fit just the hood complete with a plastic rear wind...

Re: Fog Lights opaque

Removing the fog lamps on a 2003 car should be possible after removing the radiator splash shield for access, disconnecting the wiring connector and the three lamp fixings. Mike.
